tomorrow never knows.: birthday resolutions
i. You have skin made of paper and a heart made of iron. Come back in a year and tell me the opposite. No one wants a girl who only wears words on the outside.ii. Learn how to draw hands. When you’re done, learn how to draw eyes. Draw everything you see until you…

you will need poems
you will need poems, if for nothing else
than to remind you that the world doesn’t make sense.people are not metaphors, wrapped up neatly, with bows.
mornings are not always new beginnings,
and night is hardly ever the end.you get a chance to start over whenever you want,
but most people don’t take it because reinvention is
carving out your heart and changing the batteries.you will need poems to reassure you that
heart surgery is not just for doctors.Posted on May 9, 2013 via fire & freedom with 185 notes

The words trapped behind my lips
lay in a grave of recycled fears—
I’ve memorized the way to this corner
and I recognize the faces of regret and guilt.
Where’s the line between innocence and knowledge?
Separated by sin? I feel like I’m burning,
and my fingers turn to ash when I clutch my fists tight
in resistance to melt into the cracks the earth quake
spread wide for me to fall deep into the earth’s core.
I’ve been released into the atmosphere. -

You would be amazed at what you can find
When you hide behind
Roses that refuse to bloom
And weeds that can’t stop. -
chipped playground toys
the gray sky’s
lost reflection
across this isolated lake
the loon’s cry
hollow plunking noises
bouncing off docked boats
empty shoreline
barren flagpoles
sinking balances
it spins quickly around me
but I’m in slow motion
like a kid in the middle
of a merry-go-round -
Don’t Read This
Hi guys,
this is awkward but here goes nothing I guess.
I’m a walking paradox at 20, incredibly shy but also the loudest person in the room and everyone’s best friend.
A little bit crazy but who isn’t?
I went to broadcasting school a couple of years ago and worked in radio for a hot second but really didn’t want to spend the rest of my life in that business,
A little while after graduating from school I decided I wanted to write for a living, what job specifically?
That I still don’t know, so for now I blog, I try to be a poet, and I educate myself as much as I can. I study philosophy, psychology, sociology, art, contemporary poetry, classic poetry, and classic literature.
That’s all for now, I’m sure the list will grow soon.
I love learning about how art, culture, education, and society shape the world but more importantly the people who live here and the whole horrible domino effect it all causes.
Basically, I like to watch ants colonize.
I do all of this the old fashioned way: books and the internet.
Besides all that, I’m broke as can be living in Columbus Ohio getting ready to move to Los Angeles in about a month or so. (hopefully)
I would be lying if i told you the main reason wasn’t to be with my boyfriend who has already been out there since January, but Im also really excited to see what opportunities I can find to write.
I’ve got A really fucked up vulgar sense of humor which will probably come out sometimes.
I have a dog named Marley and an incurable wanderlust that hasn’t steered me wrong yet and id absolutely adore the chance to meet you.
Oh by the way, my real name is Kathryn Elizabeth. i’ll be getting rid of this DCMaddox nonsense soon (its really a bunch of family names compiled together) and I promise i’ll get better at all of this.
